Urban villages in China are informal, densely-populated communities within cities, often formed during rapid urbanization. They face challenges like overcrowding, limited public spaces, and inadequate infrastructure, resulting in poor daylight access and dark streets at night. I view light as both a resource and mediator to ease conflicts and foster community. Using an interactive Arduino-based system with fiber optics, light is directed indoors during the day and onto streets at night, promoting equal access to light for all.
